Question:  "I would really like to use TIG to weld my fuselage.  The problem is the initial cost of the TIG machine?"

Answer: "What I suggest to the undecided, is to purchase the Gas set-up and start practicing. You need a torch anyway, and the physical techniques of dabbing in the rod are identical.

Then, if you realize that you won't really be satisfied until you have the TIG Welder at your house, you will find a way to buy it!

If you are happy with your gas torch, you'll be ready to build!"

Question:  "What about welding tanks?  What size should I get, and how do I buy them?"

Answer: "I would shop around with your local welding suppliers.  I would try to lease the tanks, and get the biggest tanks you can afford.  This will keep you from having to get them refilled so often.  I would also ask for the first fill to be free.  Most stores will do this if you ask."  (Note:  You may need to purchase an adaptor for they type of acetylene tank you are using?)
Question:  "Where should I buy my welding cart?"

Answer: "Look on-line at Harbor Freight or Northern Tools, or check your local discount store.  These carts work just fine, and are a fraction of the cost you would pay at the welding store"  (Don't buy your welding equipment from a discount store!  This is why I offer only top quality products.  Some tools from HF are ok, but your welding equipment isn't one of them!)
Question:  "Should I buy a "Bargain Bag" of tubing to practice my welding?"

Answer: "The bargain bags have allot of unusable pieces, and tubing that's too thick for realistic practice.  I would look at your plans and buy 8' to 12' of the most commonly used tubing.  If you don't have any plans yet, I would get some 5/8" .035 and some 1/2" .035 and practice with that.  It's much more realistic, and you will probably be able to use what's left on your actual airframe, as it's a pretty common size and wall thickness"
